INFORMATIONS

Stadium – outdoor

The town of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence is a symbol of the Provençal way of life, with 15 listed monuments and 7 registered as Historic Monuments. It is nestled in the heart of an exceptional natural environment, that of the Alpilles mountain range, which is renowned the world over.Close to the major European traffic and transport networks, Saint-Rémy benefits from a strategic geographical location: 15 km from the A7 motorway, 21 km from the Avignon TGV station and the Avignon airfield, and 71 km from the Marignane international airport.

With more than 50 sports associations very much supported by the municipality, 4 stadiums, 1 omnisports centre, plus numerous sports facilities, regularly renovated, spread over nearly 45 hectares, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence is a town resolutely focused on sports.

The town is also accustomed to hosting high-level sports teams.

During the 1998 World Cup, it hosted the Scottish national team. In 2007, it hosted the Italian rugby team during the World Cup. It has also hosted the Paris-Saint-Germain football team.

The Tour de France and other cycling races (Tour Med, Tour de La Provence, Trophée des As) regularly pass through the town, which has already been selected as a stage town (Tour Med in 2014).

On the strength of this experience, the municipality has proposed to the French Rugby Federation to host a team again for the next World Cup in 2023.

Saint-Rémy-de-Provence is one of the municipalities that the various organisers know they can count on. Saint-Rémy would also be a choice municipality to receive an international delegation for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

This stadium, which consists of a natural grass pitch, is of excellent quality and complies with all the regulations (national conformity, federal classification 3). A second synthetic pitch located in the same area is recommended and can comply with the provisions of the regulations.
