From 12 to 14 December, the Aix tatamis of the Val de l’Arc hosted a training course in preparation for the 2024 Olympic Games for the French and hopeful poles, and the foreign Belgian and Dutch judo delegations, before being joined by the French U23 women’s team and the French Paralympic team.
This training course is part of an agreement signed between the Bouches-du-Rhône Department and the French Judo Federation on 8 December 2021 in Cabriès. Our territory is proud to be a “Land of Games”.
If the objective of these training courses is to prepare for the 2024 deadline, they also have a great interest for the territory with the sharing of experiences with our young schoolchildren and practitioners.
Thus, more than 400 schoolchildren and 700 young members were able to attend demonstrations and meet the U23 women’s team and the French Para-Judo team. This is always a memorable experience for the young people who were able to meet the two Para-Judo medallists of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, Sandrine Martinet (Paralympic champion) and Hélios Latchoumanaya (bronze medallist), as well as the great champion Lucie Décosse (Olympic champion in London, Olympic runner-up in Rio, three-time world champion), who has become the coach of the French U23 women’s team.
This transmission of the values of sport is already the legacy desired by the Department in this Olympic adventure.
