The French paralympic swimming team in training in Martigues

10/05/2023

The French delegation is in full preparation for the 2024 Paralympic Games.
At the end of August, the French swimmers settled in Martigues for a week of training.
Ideal conditions according to sports director Sami El Gheddari: “When we saw the pool, the sun, the infrastructure, the conditions were ideal for our team’s recovery.

A pool accessible to people with disabilities with a PRM launch.

For Odile Odyle Deleuze-Luchini, president of the Bouches-du-Rhône Departmental Handisport Committee, this new swimming complex is a real plus for handisport athletes. “It allows us to open up to other practice areas, to explore new sports and political networks, to generate future meetings with a view to new affiliations and inclusive local actions, to develop social links by democratising disability.
Like the swimmer from Marseille, Agathe Pauli, all the athletes appreciated this “perfectly adapted” venue.
It is highly likely that the French team will return to our region for other events.

The Department has invested 2.16 million euros in this new Olympic swimming pool, equipped with 8 water lines and heated with renewable energy.
